Why AI-Generated Advertising Creates Noise, Not Signals

Let’s be clear: I use AI.

The illustrations on my website — inspired by Edgar P. Jacobs — are AI-assisted. They took hours of refinement. AI didn’t create them on its own. I directed it.

I also use AI when a client needs a complex image masked quickly or when a montage must be finished yesterday. For me, AI is a tool — nothing more, nothing less.

AI is useful. Absolutely.

But something new is happening.

More and more businesses are using fully AI-generated adverts and ready-made templates. The result? Clean, warm, aesthetically pleasing designs. Perfect lighting. Polished fonts. Hyper-real strawberries glowing like they escaped a Disney film.

And they all look the same.

The bakery. The butcher. The plumber. The gym.

Identical mood. Identical colours. Identical layout.

This is not branding.

This is noise.

When every advert follows the same template, differentiation disappears. And when differentiation disappears, the only thing left to compete on is price.

Look closely:

  • Is there a consistent corporate design?
  • Real photographs of the business?
  • A recognisable visual identity?
  • A clear signal to returning customers?

Rarely.

Marketing is not decoration.

It is communication.

If you are proud of your business — of what you built, of your team, of your craft — why promote it with something that could belong to anyone?

AI should support your vision.

Not replace it.

Strong marketing reflects identity. It builds recognition. It sends signals — not noise.

And no, this does not require endless time or unrealistic budgets. It requires strategy, clarity and someone who understands how to translate your business into visual language.

Because your business is not a template.
